AAPAS Strongly support H.R.3313 proposed by U.S congresswoman Judy Chu
AAPAS (American Alliance for Professional Acupuncture and Safety) is an alliance composed of a majority of Chinese acupuncture organizations and schools in the United States. The organization formed with the purpose of opposing the illegal dry needling from PT and strives for the legitimate rights and benefits for acupuncturists.
AAPAS have closely worked together with other acupuncture organizations in the advocacy campaign in recent years. AAPAS and ASA jointly held a press conference in Congress to promote acupuncture to the legislators in 2017. In 2018 & 2019, a lot of acupuncturists from the members of AAPAS joined a congress lobbying event hosted by the ASA and AAOA. CMS wanted to collect public opinion on acupuncture treatment for chronic lower back pain for Medicare patients, AAPAS immediately collected a huge amount of evidence-based acupuncture treatment for pain research papers from different sources and provided them to the CMS immediately, and established an HR 6 website to dedicate relevant research sources to the pain treatment information.
Every member of AAPAS has done a lot of solid works to advocate the Medicare Acupuncture Act bill by Congresswoman Judy Chu. For example, they went to the congressional lobbying events, advocated the members of Congress, and encouraged the acupuncturists and patients to write letters to CMS and members of Congress to support the Bill. Our group member United Alliance of New York State Licensed Acupuncturists has successfully lobbied Congresswoman Grace Meng as a coauthor of HR3313.
The president of AAPAS with the leaders of other majority acupuncture organizations have very effectively communicated recently, they all agreed that united actions and cooperation can further strengthen the acupuncture field in the future. We must work together to advocate and promote the H.R. 3133 Bill to success!
AAPAS is very thankful and grateful to all Chinese acupuncturists for their long time support and trust. We thank everyone who participates in the advocacy. Let us work together to add acupuncturists as healthcare providers under the CMS system. We would not be the bystanders, but the leaders of the grassroots campaign!
